Level 4: is generally accepted as the top level of finished used when non-critical lighting falls on satin/flat/low-sheen paints or wallpaper. Level 5: should be used when gloss, semi-gloss or dark-tone paints are specified or where critical lighting conditions occur on satin/flat/matt or low-sheen paints. |

Approved Lead HandlersThe use of lead based paints on New Zealand buildings, a practice common until the 1980's, has left a legacy of problems for those involved in repainting and redecorating. Most pre 1970 homes can be assumed to contain lead based paint. This may have been covered over by more recent decoration. The risk is usually negligible unless paintwork is an advanced state of deterioration or inappropriate methods are used to remove paint. All preparation and painting works should be to the A/S 2311:2017 Painting of Buildings |
